Skating Like You're Supergirl!

Last night I was invited to the birthday party of a student. Stephanie is truly one of the funniest people I know. Last year I had her in class for three periods a day. (Life Management, World History and Geometry) I told her that if she was ever out of work she could get a job as a white noise machine. She is so talkative...but very hilarious! I have no doubt that one day she will be the first female professional soccer player who also moonlights as a commedianne.

The party was an ice skating party at the RDV sportsplex. She invited about 150 people, so while I was flattered to be invited, I was also one of many. She told me to bring the girl and a friend so that she could skate too. So I did.
I realized a few things...first off...well...Im OLD! Young as I may feel, im actually almost 40! (gasp) Nothing like spending a few hours with youth and giggling and flirting and high energy to hammer that fact home.

Secondly, I was reminded why I love high schoolers. And that is because they are FUN! Truly they are! Life is an adventure! I dont remember being like this in high school. I was much more reserved and quiet ( I know...I know...hard to fathom isnt it? I found myself in college!) They made me laugh by mugging for the camera, doing silly tricks on the ice, and just being lighthearted and comical!

Lastly, I realized that while I felt wistful for youth, I also was very happy to be where I am right now. I remembered that God has blessed me so graciously with a husband and a child and a career that I love...these are bonuses so to speak. God doesnt have to be gracious to me, but He is. And I am grateful for it.
