Richie, Rachel, Courtney and Blair

Because I made reference to this in yesterdays' blog Ill give light to a situation in which I inadvertantly compared myself to Jesus. This is one of the many reasons that I love working with high schoolers...they say whatever comes to their minds.
I had prayer group for 2 1/2 years with four incredible students. Courtney, Richie, Blair and Rachel. They were/are amazing and I miss them so much as they graduated last year. (Ill write more about them for sure at a later date) We met on Friday mornings at 7am for prayer and accountability and just fellowship.
It was late in the year last year and they were in my room at break just chatting and hanging out. Sometimes they caem in to use my computer...to sleep behind my desk for a few minutes, to study, or just to chat. Invariably we would end up laughing...that was the best part of being with them. Their humor and also their honesty.

Another teacher came into the room and was suprised to find these seniors in my room as I teach underclassmen. And so I was put to the task of trying to explain our relationships with each other. What I said was something like this...
" You know how Jesus had the multitudes follow him but within that he had the 70 (devout followers) and then out of those he had the 12 (disciples) and the out of the 12 he had the 3 (James, Peter and John)??? Well...these guys are like my three...only there are four of them."

Without missing a beat, Courtney said, " Wait....so in this scenario, you're ....JESUS? Now that cant possibly be right!"

Leave it to a high schooler to keep you grounded in reality!!
