Can you smell it?

My AC is out...again.

We just had a new one put in about 4 weeks ago and it has been problematic. I think the actual unit is defective. The Carrier representative has been out to fix it four times already. Well, tomorrow it will be five.

For those of you who know me, you know that I dislike heat. No..its more a matter of that I hate, loathe, despise and abhor being hot. Sweating, body odor, stickiness...this is like hell for me. It puts me in the worst mood! Praise God its not horribly hot out and the evenings and nights have been temperate.

Its been interesting, though having the windows and French doors open. We have a screened in pool patio so we can keep things open without the bugs getting in. We also back up to a park that is a wild life sanctuary.

What struck me the most was when I tucked the girl in one night. I had her window open and the sheets were fresh that night. I had forgotten the smell of evening. I can remember this well growing up. In the spring particularily we would sleep with windows open and there is a smell that exists that is so unique...that twilight smell. It took me back to listening to the sounds of our neighborhood ending the day while trying to fall sleep on those summer nights. And listening to the sort of lullabye of the breeze as it blew and faded out the sound of the television. We would stick a shoe in between the door and the door jamb to keep it from clicking open and shut everytime the breeze blew.

After tucking her in and showering I got into our own bed. E was watching television and it was not quite dark out. The french doors were open and I got to smell the ending of the day and listen to an old familar lullabye. It was absolutely delicious.
