Nicknames

E and I were talking the other night about nicknames that we have had for each other.

Of course we have the typical "Babe" and "Honey"

And the less popular, "Schmoopie" and "Boobah"

And the of course run of the mill "Jerk!" "A#&$(#!" and other endearing terms you call eachother when you are angry.

Other ones "Junior Holy Spirit" (him to me) and the every popular Indian name "Lies on the couch" (me to him)

Then we moved on to nicknames we have had for the girl:

"Shuggie"

"Sweet pea"

"Precious Lover"

"Sweet girl"

"Kitty Cat"

"Katy-bug"

(I know are you vomiting yet???)

And of course this lead to a discussion of what we have called our cats over the years:

"Boobah" (boobah is an all encompassing term for anything you love. We had this nickname long before the odd Boobah show on PBS)

"Butterhead"

"Fat-boy"

"Double U" (for George W)

"Double D" (for Dexter)

"Big D" (for Dexter)

"Black kitty" (for Spooky)

"Poor ole Dexter"

"Frick and Frack" (for the boys)

"Moe, Larry, and Curly" (all three)

"Bo and Jangles" (George and Dexter)

"Biscuit head" (Dexter again)

"Sweet Baby kitty" (when they are sick or hurt or just sweet)

I had a friend with cats in Atlanta. The big one was the A Kitty Large-0 (reference to the Achille Lauro cruise ship ~ 1985 highjacking) and the one who would fall off couches and walk into walks, etc. was Dimbulb.

These were not nicknames but the cats' real names.

Oh Patti, I am laughing hysterically. Nicknames are the best. My kids had the all. I call Nick - Gramps and he is NOT allowed to call me Granny when we are having - well you know what... He does call me hon, Yo Adrianne, Bren (that's my favorite) My daughters call me blouist, granula, granny, ma. My friends call me "B" Miss B, Beezer, Spike.
My cats are Mr. Yielding, Yieldman, Handsome man, teddybear boy. ReeRee, Rathead (his body was so big and his head was this tennisball) Oddy, Oldass
Kids - Nan, Nanny, Nats, Sis, Sissy, Sisterfrank, Frank, SaSa, Rob, RobbieDeeDeet. Brother, Skip, Skomp, Skippy bite-the-couch. I could name on and on

Oh wait, I forgot the one cat we had and his name was "doobie"! Now I am NOT sure where that came from but I believe he was a pretty smokin cat! It was our daughter Natalie's cat - and how is it we inherit these animals when these kids leave home? We had Princess Leia for a while too!
