I am a huge fan of Halloween. I know it may not be politically correct to be so, but I simply am. It was one of my favorite holidays as a child and one of my favorites as an adult. One day Im going to throw a HUGE Halloween costume party!
One of the reasons that I love Halloween so much is because its really like a secondary holiday...one that doesnt have all the big pressures of a major holiday. Its like all the fun without all the stress! It also hales the beginning of the holiday season really. One would think that wouldnt start until after Thanksgiving, but in reality, it starts after Halloween. One only needs to look around at the stores to see Christmas decorations go up after Halloween comes down!!
The big stress holidays (in my book) are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. These holidays entail big meals, family get togethers, decorations, presents and a pre-season in which to purchase things. They also tend to involve travel. Thus the stress.
The secondary holidays to me, are more fun. Those would be New Years Day, Halloween, Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Fourth of July. Still have a bit of a pre-season, but not necessarily all the fixings and stress of the big ones above.
And then one cannot forget the tertiary holidays...the ones that people barely remember, but still exist to point us in the right direction. Those would be: President's Day, Martin Luther King Junior Day, Arbor Day, Veterns Day, Memorial Day, Columbus Day, and Labor Day.
And dont even get me started on the Jewish holidays....
