The Case for Kids

At church our Sunday School class is doing a series on Parenting. The book and video series we have been doing is called the Case fo Kids. (and when I say "we" I mostly mean Eric as he is very good about attending)

Great quote from class on Sunday. The topic was teenagers.

"The wonderful thing about the teen years is that the more the hcild is makig his own decisions, the more he is moving out inot the world, the more his heart will be revealed. And that revelation of the heart provides wonderful opportunites. "

The lesson dealt with the differences between what the world tells us about teenagers, and what the Bible tells us about teenagers. I was reading E's notes on the day and came across this scribbled down...I really love what it is getting at. " One of the effects of sin is that sin makes foolishness look wise and wisdom look foolish (Uh...YEAH!!!). Out job is to make wisdom and correction beautiful.

Well...now that I know what to do.....

I loved the concept brought up in the last few weeks about embracing trouble and conflict as an opportunity for the gospel. Even though R is only 3, the more conflict we have, the more my heart is revealed and the more I see how I need the gospel. Then I can demonstrate the gospel to her and bring her into understanding her need. This class has done just as much work on my heart as it has in my parenting skills.
