Christmas Part two

So.....

after we "coffee-ed" with the neighbors we returned and the girl and E tried out their new PS2 family gift...and when I say "family gift" I really mean "gift that E bought for himself but justified by calling it a family gift..." HAHAHAHAH! Its all good...hey, he could be out drinking right? What was so funny was that the girl first opened a PS2 game and was like..."Oh...i guess Santa got the wrong house." And then she opened up a controller...here...watch what happens!

In the afternoon our dear friends the Berry's came over with their four girls and its always a party with them (So nice they visited with you too Vicki!) After some yummy appetizers (bacon wrapped chestnuts, pigs in a blanket, meatballs, salad, veggies, cheese and jam loaf) we had a scavenger hunt. Each child recieved a letter that had a series of activities that they had to do and it lead them to their gifts. For example: Find five snowmen in the house, from the fire place take 6 steps to the patio, turn left, pick up the phone, call yourself and leave a message at your house, go to the bathtub, sit in it and sing a Christmas Carol....and on and on...The best part was that even though each girl got to do theirs individually, the rest giggled and laughed their way through it too! It was precious and lots of fun! Then the adults headed to see I AM LEGEND!!

As a side note...first of all I did read the book because the movie sounded so interesting to me and I am a firm believer that the book is always better than the movie. However...for this case, the movie was actually better I think. Second of all, who DOESNT like Will Smith? Third, when you go wear Depends because there are parts that are so scary you might just pee on yourself. I literally screamed unconsciously several times and watched part of it through hands over my eyes. Amy kept saying all the whole time "WHO PICKED THIS MOVIE!!!" All in all...a good show!

Upon returning home we sang "Happy Birthday Jesus" and ate birthday cake that the girl and I made the previous day. Yummy and sweet!

All and all a fun, busy day and lots of good memories made!

Today I spent the day "de-frocking" the house. I realize that its fairly "grinch-ish" to do it so soon after the actual day, but honestly, I just needed to get some order back in the house. I can only take all the decorations and stuff for so long...PLUS the way I reason, they HAVE been up since Thanksgiving. (Yes...I realize Im just a titch away from having full on ocd--it just feels soo good to have it all done!!!)

The girl spent the day outside with all the other neighborhood children on her roller blades and just doing what kids do after Christmas. We ended up ordering pizza for the group and everyone ended up over here on our patio having pizza and chatting. We are so lucky to live next to such wonderful people.

So, on we go...the last days of 2007. I cannot believe that 2008 is around the corner. I was having a conversation with Brandi and Holly today and was telling them about a wedding I will be going ot on Friday. Its the wedding of a colleague, but years ago Brad was also a student of mine in the 6th grade. So i was explaining this to B and H and I said that he was a student of mine in the very first class that I ever taught. As I thought about what year it was when I began teaching, I realized that it was 1990 when I came to Orlando and that Brad was in my class SEVENTEEN years ago!!

Oh well, I just keep telling myself that while I may be getting older, at least Im getting better at being who I am!

I love the scavenger hunt idea! Way to make it fun for the kids! (A side note for you... a while back the Berrys went with us to see the third Matrix movie, and Amy HATED it... kept saying she was watching scrap metal fly all over the screen.) :)

We are celebrating our anniversary the same day as Brad's wedding, so... we'll be doing our own thing on Friday-- 29years!
