The case for kids notes

As I said before our Sunday School is studying a book and doing a video series called The Case For Kids.

Its very helpful and I wish I were more diligent in my attempts to get to Sunday School and listen. I was reading over my notes from a few weeks and found some interesting thoughts. Good food for thought.

  • Kids can be very successful and sin, as can we. We should pray for exposure of our children's sin as well as our own. The author put it so eloquently. He said, "You can bget skilled at living in the darnkess or you can praise God for this moment of rescue...this moment to turn things around." Wow...Im hoping I can remember this when I hear something about the girl that needs addressing.

  • Dont attempt to "remodel" your kids when you are addressing an issue with them . Instead think of it as restoring them. Dont go in with a sledgehammer, be gentle. Using sarcasm and harsh words doesnt change hearts, but builds resentment. Remember that youre not a prison warden, but someone to teach them to live life in this world, which is hard.

  • Do not exasperate your children. Being humble before them pays many dividends. Sypathizing with their struggle is important in restoring them into a right relationship with God.

Interesting concepts. I especially like the one where he talks about praising God when our own limitations or that of our children come to light. That we can see it as an opportunity to step out of what eventually will pull us down.
