Friday is Young Author's Day a the girl's school. I love Young Authors day...seriously, I cry every year...and sometimes not even just at the girl. Its such a sweet afternoon listening to the kids read their stories to their parents and audience. What happens is that staff assembles a conglomerate of students at different levels ( K - 5) in various rooms and each students reads an original work...its completely priceless.
What never fails to amaze me is how each student DOES it...generally they are not too nervous and they just do it. I love at the end when the moderator says, "Who has questions or comments for so and so?" and the kids say stuff like, "So and so...I really liked your pictures!" or "So and so, how did you come up with the idea for this story?" Oh my....super adorable.
The girl has been practicing her story in her room...we are not allowed to hear it but I did see it lying on the counter and noticed she got a "Newberry" award for her writing! Im so proud!
Her story is titled "An Island Full of Trouble".
(Can I just say, 'Nancy Drew-wanna be??'...I love it!)
I love that in the picture below Mike Rowe just had to get in the action as well.
