What is it about the end of the year that gets me so excited...oh yeah, SUMMER!!!
Well that of course, but to be honest, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the feel of the end of school and the completion of a year. I love the assessing and the recording. I love the collecting of books and checking them off as done. I love cleaning my office and organizing my files. I love deleting crap on my computer.
For someone who is a minimalist at heart, these are wonderful things. I have no idea why this gives me such a good feeling other than the fact that everything is tied up. I love looking at the stack of boxes and knowing that ALL my teaching stuff is in there....right there...all organized.
Oh yeah...its good times.
I also love the prospect of summer and what that means as well. The first two weeks I will no doubt be doing my "summer cleanse" which sounds way less painful than it is. You know...its the things that you dont really need to do on a consistent basis, but when you dont do it for 6 months, it can be detrimental. Stuff like straightening out the desk drawers, going through files, organizing the phone cabinet, going through the girl's stuff, organizing the game cabinet, seeing whats old and what no one plays with anymore. Ooooooooooo its so exciting to me. I guess too it helps me function the other 50 weeks of the year knowing were everything is and exactly what we have.
Truth be told, Id love to get up in our attic and go through stuff. E forbade me from that however saying that we would not be left with anything but a few Christmas ornaments, some pine needles, and a few love letters from when we are dating. Im not THAT bad! I know the difference between nostalgia and sentiment. (Nostalgia = good/probably keep it. Sentimental = not good/probably toss it) I love simplicity...its much easier to keep up with things.
Granted, I do realize I probably "worship" this too much. I can tell by the level of excitement that I have about it and how annoyed I get when people get in the way of it. Its all good though, all in the right proportions, right?

I must say, deleting large amounts of files off my computer in one click makes me very happy!
Cleaning is right up there with making window treatments, if you ever come to my house, you'll see I have none. I bought beautiful fabric, it's nice, just tucked away for safe keeping. Me, my motto is, get it in, get the door closed, move on. I was never like this, ever. Wow, I've left not only my husbands head spinning, but my mother would roll over in her grave if she saw my closets. Works for me.
