Whenever Kathy comes into town she, Amy and I try to make it work to get together. Im seriously proud of ourselves for keeping to it even as the years pass. Last night I smiled at myself when I thought back to the days of praying in my classroom in the pre dawn hours (7am) on Fridays, by the light of my christmas-tree-light-adorned bulliten board and a prayer candle.
We would drag in, toting coffee or diet coke, lock the door, which really, never mind cause it was all glass and kids would constantly throughout the 45 minutes, try the door, find out it was locked, peer in, and then realize we were praying and walk off. Back in those days, I was the Geometry teacher with only one with a child, and those two were newly-ish married English teachers. I often wondered, and still do, what drew us together. We are all very different, but I do believe that the desire for authentic relationships were and still are an impetus.
I loved that we would chat, but more importantly pray. Inevitably, one of us would cry (usually me), one of us would laugh, and God would somehow show up.
One of the sweetest parts of the journey of a Christian is the people that come alongside of you during your story.
As we were saying goodbyes last night Dave snapped this picture of us being silly...we were trying to do pouty lips!! I dont know which expression on us I like the most, but I love how it captured the moment. Look at Amy laughing! Pure joy! I love it and you too A and K! xo
