Ive come to realize that attending church must be a little bit of what going to A A is like. Or rather what AA uses in its philosophy.
Not that I know about A A meetings, although I have been to several in my day for various reasons. (And no, for all you people with minds in other places, it was NOT court mandated...it was research, for a class, and with a friend)
In A A they tell you that one of the key components is regular attendance at meetings...it keeps you accountable. They tell participants that if they are having a bad day or really struggling with something that they should attend a meeting. It focuses you.
Church is like that for me. It gets me refocused after walking through the week where my perspective gets warped, my focus gets wrongly aligned, and my thoughts/words are anything but concentrated on the right things. I was contemplating this after church on the ride home because we are always very chatty and upbeat after church. Im positive this is because of some "face time" worshipping.
I know too that this is why Satan doesnt want us to go to church and meet with other believers. There is power in community and to take that out of commission weakens us. Its no wonder that Sunday mornings are often the most arguing, stressful, cranky times. We have alot working against us. As Ive said before, I almost never have a huge desire to attend worship services, and I generally consider it a miracle if we make it there without having said short or cross words to each other. However, after getting there and being engaged in the service, its always a good thing. Wait...that sort of sounds like the philosophy for working out too...hassle to get there...never wanting to go...always feeling good when you are done.
Hmmmm...Maybe if I could incoroprate working out with worship Id be onto something!
I forget the Scripture that says that we shouldnt give up meeting with other believers, but I certainly get the power behind that.

I was sending you strong "HI PATTI" vibes this week during worship... did you feel 'em? :)
