Volleyball

The girl ended her first season of volleyball last weekend. Although it was like pulling teeth to get her to try it and she didnt overly enjoy practices, by the time they were mid-season, she was into it. There was no more whining about going to practice except for the occassional fatigue from her regular schedule.

They were a very sweet team of 4th and 5th graders and had a great coach in Miss Rebekah and assistant coach in Pastor Jakes. What I loved about her coach was that it was about learning skills and the game, but also about being an appropriate Christian athelete...playing and obeying the rules, and encouraging each other. She was the perfect coach for this age in that she encouraged and also "coached" and "taught" during the games. Several times after games she would distribute little notes of encouragement to her players! How sweet is that!
