A's blog reminded me about the play we went to go see at the Shakespeare Theater on Saturday night. I was the lucky recipient of the "husband-not-in-town-award"! It was very generous and I do love seeing live theater...its so much richer than movies. I always think after seeing a play that it ruins me for a bit on movies. (not that I dont love them, dont get me wrong here...) But there is something very special about live actors in live time. A. really gives a great rendition of the evening which you can read here.
The play was Much Ado About Nothing, which is a comedy, and laugh we did. It took me about 7 minutes to get my Shakespeare-speak going but once I cued in it was great. I think its a little like listening to people talk in a different language. If you sort of know it you can get what is being said provided you concentrate. The actors and actresses were GREAT and the theater small and we were well seated!
A. doesnt let me get away with much in the excuse area, and is so good for me in that she presses me to do things that I wouldnt normally do. (think Bible study this summer...and yes I realized I only made it twice, but twice is better than NONE!!) I dont enjoy going out in the evening much right now especially...My high energy comes in the morning and having a little one means never sleeping in especially during tax season when E is very unavailable to shoulder the load of the home and children. Fatigue is my worst enemy right now. However, it was so delightful to spend the evening with good conversation and good food and good theater. ( I will miss you dreadfully when you move A, but will faithfully send you Aquanet so you can do some BIG TEXAS hair!)
My two favorite things about the evening:
1. The fact that literally 5 minutes before dropping her off we started talking about books and were like two disappointed puppies because THAT convo could have gone on for a while!
2. This conversation:
P: "Should I just get off up here at Colonial?"
A: "What do you mean?"
P:" Colonial is right here...do you think that is the best way to take?!"
A: "You know you dont have to park downtown..."
P: "What?? The theater is right here..."
A: "No its not."
P: "Yes...the Bob Carr is right next to the Amway Arena."
A: (pausing) "Um...the play is at the Shakespeare theater in Lockhaven park..."
P: (pausing) "That was like three exits back!!!"
A" "I know! I was wondering why you were going downtown!"
Oh lorday...these are the things I will miss.
