I am fascinated by Rosie O'Donnell.
I can remember watching her when she was a VeeJay on VH1 back in the 80's ...long permed hair, chubby, young faced. I didnt seem much ofher stand up but then religiously watched her show The Rosie ODonnel Show in the late 90's. This was before she was publically "out". I rememeber being very charmed by her generosity and how she was very unaffected by her sudden wealth.
My sister and I had many round-about discussions about if she was a lesbian or not. I said probably not, but my sister, being wiser than I, called it. When she publically came out I was suprised, but still really enjoyed her.
Ive watched the VIEW consistently since she has been on. I also read her blog. She answers questions from people who write in.
Its very interesting to me because I find her quite altruistic. I think her delivery is completely wrong, I disagree with her on most of her politics and her choice of sexual orientation, but I do enjoy the part of her that is true to herself. I think she definately stands for what she believes in. I think she has some valid points. On others I think she is wrong like nuclear war is wrong. I like that she encourages people to wake up and think about what is what and to reserach and make their own decisions. I like that she is so generous with her money and that she gives to causes that she believes in. I dont like that she curses in public. I think she does alot of good, even if she is misguided from my point of view. I enjoy that she says that Democracy demands questioning.
I think she was far too harsh in delivering her view of the war...however, that is what the show is called isnt it...the VIEW. She tends to be a bit bulldog-ish however. I wonder if it is attached to her level of passion for what she believes
E cant stand her. He finds it difficult to see the good parts.
Its got me wondering about people in general. I think the older I get the more I see that life is different shades of gray rather than being black or white. That people are rarely all good or all bad. That all people have their redeeming qualities and even the best people have annoying traits. Grace is a good thing. I think that in the past I have often dismissed people as being completely one way or another. This is not usually the case.
The question remains...will I watch the View? Not sure...Ill keep you (pardon the pun) posted.
