A book I just finished was COME BACK by Claire Fontaine
It is an excellent book...a little psycho-babble-ish, but well written and interesting.
Without telling the whole thing, its the story about a mother and daughter. The daughter runs away from home for various reasons and the book tells about her journey back...physically and emotionally. Perhaps the most interesting parts of the book are where the author explains how the events change the her...the mother.
While the daughter goes into long term in-patient treatment, the parents of kids in this facility are encouraged to take classes themselves because as one doctor so eloquently puts it,"Its not going to help to send a healthy child back into an unhealthy environment."
Its always good for me to be reminded that I am broken myself...that all of my relationships suffer because of my own sinfulness. That I desire control because of fearing things...that I dont trust enough...that old patterns die hard.
It reminds me again to be so grateful for the grace that Christ gives us. I couldnt do this life without it.
