So what am I doing while the girl is at Summer's Best Week? Cleaning closets, getting rid of stuff and organizing life again. Im not a particularily pack rat-ish type person but it still shocks me how much STUFF that we have that we dont need or want or use. I filled 7 yard waste bags and took them to Good Will.
E and I differ tremendously on this matter of keeping stuff or passing it on. Im not a keeper... he totally is. Stuff can be comforting to people Ive realized...even if they dont use it or even remember its there. Ive definatgely learned over the years that I need to let him keep some stuff and not argue about it.
Im not a particularily sentimental person either...Emotional yes, but sentimental, not so much. Stuff doesnt mean much to me. Pictures do. Cards do. Letters do. But little tchotckes from trips and crap...ugh...let it go.
However stuff that the girl has made is entirely different. While I dont keep every little thing I do have every story that she has written at school. Some artwork, funny things that she made, little notes that she has written. I like photos the best...and reading what we were doing or how old the girl was when we took them. I have way too many scrap books, but I figure that is an easy way to keep memories.
Speaking of pictures...t(hose of you who remember) Bev Downward gave me a lovely peice of advice upon getting married (and one that I give to brides to be because of it). She told me to take a picture on every anniversary that we had and hold up the number of fingers for what anniversary we were at. We have done this and its a riot to look back at the pictures. Ill have to work on getting them scanned they are very fun.
Wait...was I just getting sentimental?? Well... not sure about that but check out these clean closets!!!
Office/Spare room closet (yes...that is Marilyn Monroe)
Linen closet ( Did I ever have some old pillowcases in there!!!)
Our closet (my side...note the color coding)
Our closet (E's side...he just got color coded and loved it! He was like...WOW! I wear alot of red and blue!)
The girl's closet. She also got color coded, but was less impressed.

You have inspired me not to color code but post a pic of "my closet". I was trying to come up with my next post. Off to get the camera. You will laugh. Nick says if I can find a place to hang it, it will be hung! I am a slob by nature but it's welllll hidden - sorta.
Brenda
i'm still finding it quite cute that you color code your closet!
