Whatever in the world made me think I would be able to get work done with four girls running around the place?!?
The girl has been graciously invited out to several homes and so I thought Id do paybacks all in one fell swoop. (Not that any of these wonderful mother's expect "paybacks" but its always in good taste to reciprocate.) Four girls...coming at noon...Ill make pizza etc... they will swim it will all be good, right??
WRONG!!!
First of all I didnt really think this through all the way. Wednesday is the day the housecleaner comes so we usually leave so she can work without us underfoot. Well I had told the girl we could make cupcakes for everyone and for part of the afternoon fun they could decorate them. Off to the store we go and then Holly gracious said we could make them at her house so we would be able to stay out of my house for the maid. Then she had tennis at 11:00 until about noon....kind of didnt think that all the way though either.
Thankfully they made it back before her guests arrived. I made pizza and the cupcakes were cooling. Emily stayed and ate and had a cupcake too and we chatted...I had forgotten that GIRLS ARE VERY NOISY at this age. GIGGLING and SCREAMING and LAUGHING and just SO EXCITED. And the worst of them is my own child. She is so excited to show off her stuff and show off her house and all the cool things that they are going to do that she drives me crazy!!
Of course Im annoyed thinking that my house is getting trashed and ITS JUST BEEN CLEANED!! Swimming is exciting but EVERY TOWEL in the basket is wet. The doors keep opening and shutting...cupcake frosting is all over the table...sighhhhhhhhhhhh. Note to self...cup cake decorating is NOT a good activity. Now the girl is setting up a scavenger hunt for them (she had made all the tickets last night).... BREATHEeeeeeeeeeee....
I asked my friend Chuck one day if he ever wished that he were different than who he was and he snorted and said, "yeah...like everyday!!" Im feeling that way today. I wish I were able to enjoy the chaos more without worrying about the aftermath (read clean up). Its hard. Im alwasy hedging my bets because I get tired and cranky. Some days I just wish I were better at it.
I love her. I love and adore her friends. Maybe I just shouldnt have thought Id be able to get any work done!!

With that many girls in the house, of course you won't get any work done, silly! LOL Sounds like she had a fun time though ;) Should have called if you needed help! Next time!
serves you right for trying to cook in the middle of the day in the middle of the summer.... you are crazy!
