Typhoon Lagoon...and they aint kidding about the Typhoon!!
We love love love Typhoon Lagoon at Disney! Its one of their water parks and something I would highly recommend trying especially during the summer months. It hands down beats the Magic Kingdom from May-September.
We broke down and got the Florida resident's special...you can go for a year after 2pm daily for a discounted price. Which works for us beautifully as the summer afternoons can drag out a bit. The neighbors have them too which is a nice match for the whole swapping kids etc situation (read...I dont necessarily have to go every time but probably will have an extra kid with when we do go)
We headed out yesterday with the Neusches from next door. Picture 7 people in a 7 passenger van. Toss in a stroller, two game boys, drinks, towels and snacks for everyone and its a good thing we like each other.
We got down there and found spot and hit the wave pool. It never ceases to amaze me how heat can make a person cranky and getting into the water makes it all go away. We did the wave pool for a bit and then floated down the lazy river for a good half hour or so. Then it was off to hit the slides.
You could see a storm was beginning to brew but the boys went off to Crush and Gusher (rollercoaster on water) and the girls went back to the wave pool. Just as the guys were getting back they started closing things due to lightning. We had only been there two hours but that is the beauty of the pass...you dont feel badly about leaving cause you know you will be coming back.
Just as we got into the car the storm broke and it was TREMENDOUS. Talk about wind and torrents of rain and then came the hail. The girl was very afraid of the hail for some reason and climbed into my lap. I got to enjoy some sweet snuggle time with her which is becoming more and more infrequent. I say she sat in my lap because we literally did not leave the parking lot for over an hour after we got in the car. In fact...we didnt even move!! Oh my. Luckily we had sandwhiches and drinks and game boys and even a VCR with a movie to keep everyone occupied.
Finally Matt had a carpe diem moment and jockeyed back around the parking lot and we were FREE!
Total time gone: 4 hours. Actual time in the park: 2 hours.
