We have had our cat Dexter for almost 14 years.
He was a present from E to me on our one month anniversary. We had gone to Altamonte Mall back when they had a pet shop still there and admired the kittens in the window. On a whim we went in an held baby Dexter. He was so precious and furry and tiny. I can remember he reached up and batted at my hair.
I knew immediately I wanted him.
Because we had no money to speak of we had to drive back to our apartment at Lotus Landing on 434 and get our credit card.
Fifty dollars later and some change the buddy was ours!
He was barely a pound!!!
The stories I could tell about this cat!! One day I will write a book about him. He has had quite the life and brought many many laughs and much joy to our lives.
We can tell this buddy is nearing the end of his life. I was just reading on the internet tonite about how to know when it is time to put a pet down. He is not in any pain but he is doing all the end of life cat stuff that they do when they are just old.
Its completely sad. Of course Im trying to steal myself already, trying to make it hurt less even before it happens. I know I want to be there when it happens that is for sure. As difficult as that will be I so want to be there.
Who knows the cat may live on for another year, another month or another week...but I know it will eventually come to pass.

AWW!!! I'm sorry!! When the time comes, me and the Reeses will be here for you.
Love,
You Know Who
:( sorry.
Patti, I am with ya, been there, just did it last week, I am soooo sorry. IF you can, take him home with you and bury him,it helps. We had a cat that lived 18 years. He was an old fart. Went down kicking and hissing but he was so decrepit. The vet didn't even want to be in the room he was so mean.
:( Sorry for your having to make the choice.
