Its Not the Humidity, Its the Heat!!

This is the time of the year that i always get homesick for Chicago.

Its really the heat that bothers me as we approach September and October. I miss that nip in the air that accompanies the arrival of October. I always associate school starting with a change in the weather. Growing up we could not wear shorts to school and it didnt matter too much because it was cool enough. I could not imagine being required to wear jeans/pants to school every day in Florida.

The heat this time of the year makes me very grumpy. I hate sweating in general and having sweat pouring off of me while doing simple every day tasks annoys the snot out of me! Couple that by living with a man who believes the indoor temperature should be a hellish 78 degrees every day and night and you have the combination for a cranky woman. If I had my way, I would always have the AC cranked down to about 70 degrees. (Im sure that would change if I were not toting around some extra weight!) The girl is fairly hot blooded as well which cracks me up as she turns into a whiny mess if she is hot.

I suppose what makes me miss Chicago this time of year is that as we approach the fall months it never feels like fall to me. It feels like extended Indian summer. To me, sweating while you take your child Trick or Treating is just wrong. I can remember being pregnant with the girl and being so sick and so hot that I bought Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown on September 1st to try and hurry the season along.

Like I said...I never would have made it in pre-electricity days.
