Anyone want a cat?

I suppose we have now adopted two new cats by default. It appears that while we intended to keep Mike Rowe (white kitty) from this summer's litter of foster kittens, we will be keeping Cleocatra (black kitty) as well. Lucy (grey kitty) was adopted several weeks ago.

Cleo is in love with E. I mean seriously she loves him. And she is a complete PSYCHO FREAK!! Anytime we take her up to possibly be adopted she acts like a cat out of hell! The head of RAIN (rescuing animals in need) told me last week that she was probably "unadoptable" because she doesnt do well and no one wants a cat that hisses and spits and claws at them. Yeah..its all a big act because she is sweet as pie at our house. I swear cats are smart! They know how to work it to their advantage!!

So we have finally accepted that we will be a house with four cats. Spooky and George (older and indoor/outdoor) and Mike and Cleo. Our desire is to keep Cleo and Mike indoors as they are too young to be outside and also cats just do better inside. That said, on Friday, I forgot to close the garage door on my way out to school. By the time E and the girl were out the door, both baby kittys had not only been outside but were having a hey day rolling in the dirt and carousing with the other cats. Mike returned inside (good boy...thinks with his stomach) but Cleo was elusive.

She spent the day outside.

Friday afternoon there is no sign of her but on the way out to click on the pool pump I hear this tiny kitten meowing from a distance! I realized it was coming from the forest behind our house and went out to investigate. I could not for the life of me ascertain where Cleo was. I went to where I thought she was and then it sounded like she was further off, or more to the right, or more to the left. Finally, I looked up. There she was, about 12 feet up a tree. And she was stuck.

From there it just got funny. E was home early and so we trucked a ladder out there. Everytime he put the ladder to the tree she either went out on the limb or tried to climb higher. So he woudl climb down and move the ladder....and then Cleo would move. And on and on this went.

Finally E got a rope and a back pack and climbed up the ladder and got into the tree himself. He was like frigging MacGyver. (if you dont get that reference you must be younger than I )He scruffed that girl, put her in the back pack and zipped her up so she couldnt get out. Then...smart man that he is, he looped the rope over a branch and lowered her like the cat in the basket that she was. GO DAD!!! He was the hero!

The girl ran her inside and let her out in the house and she ran to her food and water and drank and ate like she hadnt eaten in months ( cats are so dramatic!!)

I wish I had taken pcitures because it was quite the ordeal that lasted an hour.

Of course as soon as E came in from putting the ladder up what did she do? Jumped in his lap and purred and purred and purred....
