More on Pie

Because i do love pumpkin pie, I always get excited when October comes around and the grocery stores put all the stuff for pumpkin pie in one of those end-of-the-aisle kiosks...seriously, it makes me buy all the stuff.

When Claire was about 3 weeks old we had a breather between guests, she was sleeping, and the girl was wanting to bake. I had the stuff on hand and suggested pumpkin pie. She was all over it. Sadly my ready-made crusts were a bit crumbled, so we decided to combine the two crusts, mash it up and put it in a 9 x 13 pan to make one gigantic square pie! The girl dutifully mixed everything in and we commented on how odd pumpkin is... what a weird thing to put in a pie... yada yada yada. We pour it in the dish, pop it in the oven and an hour later the GORGEOUS square pumpkin pie comes out.

My mouth was watering, but I know enough about pumpkin pie to realize its only REALLY good to me when its cool.

Several hours later, H was over and I was like, "HEY!!! We made pumpkin pie, lets have a piece!" E was so excited too...being a man he gets excited over food in a big way. So i dish it out and scoop myself a peice before anyone tastes it and...

ITS DISGUSTING!!!!

I MEAN ITS HORRIBLE AND BITTER AND TASTELESS!!!

I actually spit it out!!!

Then it dawned on me.....sugar!!!!....who knew you needed to put SUGAR in the pie!!!???

Actually it DOES say that on the recipe on the label, but you know the girl and I were having such a good time that it went right past us.

So what is that....like four consecutive pumpkin pies Ive ruined???

Well today, during the Baby Girl's nap I made two more.

And I concentrated.

And they turned out great!!

FINALLY!!!!
