Im reading EAT PRAY LOVE right now by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Its an interesting read and Im enjoying it.

Her section in PRAYING tell the story of the few months she lived on an ashram in India. One of the practices of the ashram was of course meditation. She tells of meditation for hours and how it was so difficult to quiet the voices and the thoughts in her head. By the end of her time there she was able to be still with her thoughts and mind and self for hours on end....just meditating.

Interesting...I cant even be still for a few minutes. My life is constant activity. Even when I can relax I often choose not to. I wonder if this is an American thing in part...to always be active and busy and doing something. Even in our rest we arent resting. I love how in this book Elizabeth meditates to her higher being. I wanted to yell at her that her "higher being" was actually a living entity. I love that I worship a REAL God. This book has challenged me to meditate more...Im not even very good at having quiet time, but I do live in a state of praying constantly to God. Im sure its not idea, but Im hoping to move in the direction of being more quiet. My question is this...how does one even DO that??
